Recently, Professor Xu Qiming, former Vice President of Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Distinguished Chair Professor of the Department of Environment, Safety, and Health, and an internationally renowned expert in process safety and thermal analysis, was invited to our university to give an academic report titled "The Myth and In-depth Analysis of SDS (Safety Data Sheet)". The report was hosted by Wu Tianyan, Vice Dean of the School of Urban Construction and Ecological Technology. Faculty members, undergraduate students, and graduate students from the Department of Safety Engineering attended the event. This academic report and exchange activity deepened the understanding of teachers and students on the SDS system and scientific research writing norms, broadened their international scientific research horizons, and had a positive impact on promoting the high-quality development of the safety engineering discipline at our university. In the report, Professor Xu Qiming, leveraging his extensive experience as the editor-in-chief of Process Safety and Environmental Protection (PSEP) and the associate editor of Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry (JTAC), as well as his position as a member of the editorial boards of multiple international journals, analyzed common writing pitfalls through examples of high-level international papers, shared improvement suggestions from the perspective of a reviewer, and systematically explained and introduced the writing norms of relevant scientific research papers and the submission requirements of international journals.

Professor Xu Qiming is an internationally renowned expert in the field of process safety and thermal analysis. He has served as Vice President of Yunlin University of Science and Technology and President of the Taiwan Process Safety Society. Currently, he is the Editor-in-Chief of PSEP and the Associate Editor of JTAC, and has long served as an editorial board member of multiple SCI journals. His research interests cover thermal explosion mechanisms, dust explosion prevention and control, lithium battery thermal runaway analysis, and chemical process safety engineering. He has published more than 690 SCI papers, led multiple international cooperation projects, and has received numerous international honors such as the 2024 TA Instruments–ICTAC Award, the 2023 JTACC Scientific Excellence Award, and the 2021 Trevor Kletz Merit Award.

After the lecture, our school's Vice President, Professor Wang Zhanyong, who is also the Director of the Academic Department, and Professor Li Fayun, the Executive Deputy Director of the Academic Department, along with Professor Xu Qiming, engaged in a discussion and exchange. Professor Li Fayun introduced the basic situation of the Academic Department and the direction of safety emergency characteristic scientific research construction. Professor Wang Zhanyong put forward constructive suggestions on the exchange and cooperation between the teams of the two universities. Both parties will collaborate to promote the publication of first-class achievements in safety disciplines and the high-quality development of "practical" industry-university-research cooperation.
